SAVAGE, MN, September 2015 — Let’s Play! Music Together, will open its newest location for Music Together® classes, the leading international early childhood music education program, in SAVAGE this fall.  Classes for children age Birth-5 and the adults who love them™ will be available at the MCCOLL POND ENVIRONMENTAL LEARNING CENTER under the auspices of Savage Parks & Recreation. A free trial class in Savage will be on Monday, September 14 at McColl Pond ELC at 9:30 a.m.  This class will give parents a good idea of what a Music Together® class is all about. Classes in Savage are just one of the four locations available for families south of the river, which include classes in Eagan, Burnsville and Inver Grove Heights.

According to Linda Smith, a Let’s Play! Music Together parent from Burnsville, “My 3 year old son, Jacob, and I are so excited that Cheryl is bringing Music Together classes to the Burnsville and Savage area. Cheryl is an awesome teacher and Music Together is one of Jacob’s favorite weekly activities. We listen to the CD’s all week long!”

CHERYL HORNSTEIN, Director of LET’S PLAY! MUSIC TOGETHER says, “Expanding into more South Metro communities will give more people the opportunity to experience this amazing early childhood music program. We hope many families will join us for a joyful semester of music making for children and adults alike! We have worked hard to create partnerships with Savage Parks & Recreation, Grace United Methodist Church in Burnsville, and Brookdale Senior Living in Inver Grove Heights. We are thrilled to be able to reach families in Burnsville, Savage and Inver Grove Heights for the first time, as well as continuing classes at two locations in Eagan. Classes will begin the week of September 21 and run for 10 weeks.” For more information, please visit www.LPmusictogether.com.

In addition, a highly successful “Intergenerational” version of Music Together® will be held each week at the Eagan Community Center and Brookdale Senior Living of Inver Grove Heights.  Seniors and “grand friends” join Let’s Play! Music Together family classes on-site at the ECC and at their senior residence. Children and adults ages birth to 100 sing and dance and play for 45 music filled minutes.

Bonding children and their grownups through music and helping all people discover the joy and critical educational value of early music experiences are among the key missions of Music Together®. So, it is a natural fit that the company created a special program where these very classes are held at a senior’s facility to be shared with much older generations.

Cheryl Hornstein
adds, “Strangers or not, within minutes everyone is part of our music-making family at these classes. The idea that music bonds people is never more obvious and meaningful than during the time we spend together making music.”

“All children can learn to sing in tune, keep a beat, and participate with confidence in the music of their culture, provided that their early environment supports such learning. Music Together brings families together by providing a rich musical environment in the classroom and facilitating family participation in spontaneous musical activity at home. Families get so much out of these classes,” Cheryl Hornstein explains.

Let’s Play! Music Together has been established in Eagan for the last 5 years.  Classes are made available through the City of Eagan Parks & Recreation department. Free trial classes in Savage, Burnsville, Inver Grove Heights and Eagan are listed on the Macaroni Kid calendar.

The Music Together® curriculum, coauthored in 1987 by Kenneth K. Guilmartin (Founder/Director) and Rowan University Professor of Music Education Dr. Lili M. Levinowitz (Director of Research) and offers programs for families; schools; at-risk populations; and children with special needs, in over 2000 communities in 40 countries. The company is passionately committed to bringing children and their caregivers closer through shared music-making and helping people discover the joy—and educational value—of early music experiences.
