Things to do in August

By Jodi Lorence, Macaroni Kid Publisher July 18, 2023

August! I love it and I hate it. I love it because there is so many fun events in August but I hate it because that means it is almost the end of summer and the kids are going back to school. It is bittersweet to me so we all have to cherish what is left and soak up what is left of the summer Minnesota weather.

Here are some ideas you can do this August:

1. Go to a drive-in movie with your family.

2. Plan a birthday party. We have a 2023 Birthday and Celebrations Guide to help you plan the party while supporting local businesses.

3. Take a trip to a nearby festival or fair. Visit the Out and About Events and Festivals Around Minnesota for 2023 Guide to help you plan your outings.

4. Visit Valleyfair and Soak City. Two great locations for one price!

5. Support our local Farmers Markets.

6. Visit the Renaissance Festival!

7. Climb to new heights at Minneapolis Bouldering Project.

8. Start a new hobby? Take a class at Muddy Waters Studio in Farmington and Color Me Mine Eagan!

9. Check out the Find Your Family Fun® - Ultimate Summertime Guide for 2023 when planning a summer outing.

10. Of course we can't forget the Minnesota State Fair!
