Macaroni Community is a recurring article in our Macaroni Kid newsletter that features opportunities for families to 'give back' right here in our own community (food/toy drives, run/walk events and other fundraisers for local organizations). Macaroni Community articles also feature local non-profits. Interested in submitting something to share with our Macaroni Kid family of subscribers? Email Lori for more information.

Non-profit Spotlight: The BabyLove Alliance, Ltd.
We all know someone who has struggled to become a parent. Someone who got pregnant, then lost their baby. Someone who got pregnant, but found that it was not as enjoyable as they envisioned. Someone who felt sad, anxious or angry. Someone who felt very alone.

The BabyLove Alliance, Ltd. is a new non-profit organization located in Eagan that provides a comprehensive, seamless program supporting early pregnancy through postpartum care. Our mission is to improve the maternity care outcomes for families in the Twin Cities, to increase breastfeeding rates, reduce birth complications including premature birth rates, and to improve mental health outcomes for moms, partners, and babies. The BabyLove Alliance, Ltd. will address systemic shortcomings in maternity care by creating a biophychosocial program to partner with maternity care providers that both addresses the individual needs of each mother/baby, and create a community of support and education.

A lack of time, money, energy and support and difficulty locating trained professionals are all additional barriers families face in receiving quality care. The BabyLove Alliance’s program provides mothers access to continuous labor and delivery support, postpartum mental health therapy, lactation consultants, integrative medicine, risk reduction counseling, and birth doula support. The BabyLove Alliance program provides a wraparound program to address current systemic shortcomings in maternity care that mothers currently face.

One major benefit to our organization is that we have all of these various providers in one place; instead of having to scramble and search for various providers during what is often a very stressful time, we have created a welcoming environment that can serve most of a family's education and support needs. Additionally, we are working on being able to bill insurance for most, if not all, of our services to help make the care we offer in closer reach for Twin Cities families.

To celebrate the new expansion, to welcome new providers, and to kick off fundraising for The BabyLove Alliance, Ltd we are holding a Great-Grand Opening on May 2nd, 2015 from 1-3 PM at BabyLove, 4590 Scott Trail. Suites 102 and 200. We will have snacks, cookies, activities for the little ones, and vendors. For people who aren't able to make the open house and want to learn more about our program or to support our organization, you can find more information here.

We're excited to help make pregnancy, birth, and beyond a less stressful, healthier, and more enjoyable phase of life for families in the South Metro and beyond!
