The City of Lakeville Police Department has launched a Cops & Coats campaign to gather jackets and coats for the Lewis House shelter for victims of domestic abuse.

Cops & Coats was organized by Deputy Chief John Kornmann. "A warm coat can be one of the first things that help a victim of domestic violence know that others are there to help and that leaving, sometimes with literally nothing, is the best decision."

The drive will run through January 31, 2015. Collection bins for donations of new and gently used coats for women and children can be found at the following locations:
  • Lakeville Police Department - 9237 183rd Street
  • Lakeville City Hall - 20195 Holyoke Avenue
  • Water Treatment Facility - 18400 Ipava Avenue
  • Crossroads Church, Lakeville and Inver Grove Heights campuses
  • Evergreen Church, Lakeville
