Whoville (Minneapolis, MN) - Children’s Theatre Company (CTC) remounts the holiday classic Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas, on stage November 11, 2014 to January 4, 2015on the UnitedHealth Group Stage.

The stage adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas (GRINCH) has become a treasured part of CTC’s repertoire since its debut in the 1994-1995 season. CTC had the distinct honor of being the first theatre to put Dr. Seuss’ work on the stage with the world premiere of Dr. Seuss’ The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins in 1973. When Dr. Seuss saw the script, he exclaimed, “That’s Seussian!” The Seuss Estate put its trust in CTC yet again to create the first live, theatrical version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. CTC remains the only theatre company in Minnesota with rights to produce the musical.
“CTC has long been attracted to the work of Dr. Seuss not only because of its brilliant imagery and delightful wordplay but also because of his timeless messages. His stories motivate us to be our best selves, to be generous, to be tolerant, and to celebrate the hugeness of the human heart,” says Peter Brosius, CTC’s Artistic Director.

CTC Acting Company member Reed Sigmund is the Grinch alongside Brandon Brooks, returning as his trusted friend Max the Dog. New York-based choreographer Wendy Seyb joins the creative team, herself a former CTC student actor and Wayzata native. McKnight Theater Artist Fellow Denise Prosek is the Music Director with CTC Resident Composer Victor Zupanc conducting. Former Art Director for Disneyland Creative Entertainment Tom Butsch is the Scenic Designer, with costume design by David Kay Mickelsen and lighting design by Nancy Schertler, who received a Tony nomination for lighting design for Bill Irwin’s Largely New York.
The mischievous and grumpy Grinch hates Christmas so much that he decides to steal it from his neighbors, the Christmas-loving Whos down in Whoville. With the help of his faithful dog Max and a reality check from the tiny Cindy-Lou Who, the Grinch comes to realize that you can’t steal Christmas because it doesn’t come from the store, “maybe Christmas…perhaps…means a little bit more.”
CTC Managing Director Tim Jennings explains, “We all love the world of the Whos and the Grinch. What story could be more timely for the holidays than one of understanding that joy is not found in the presents we receive but in the power of community and a shared, joyful experience.”
