From the Assistant Publisher......

What would we do without the kids? I am such a firm believer that if we all listened to the mouths of the kids this world would be a better place. Today I was deep into work and really pushing for a deadline to get shipping out and one of my grandsons, who just turned 3, came up to me and said, "Gramma, would you like me to sit on your lap?" It hit me as I was creating an invoice that there was nothing that I would like better than to just sit and cuddle with this little guy. I had him sit with me for a few minutes and really was in the "moment" truly enjoying the special time with him.

Sometimes we get so caught up in the deadlines in life that we forget what is really important. It was that moment that brought me down to reality and once that deadline was met, I made a point to create quality time with the kids and listen to what they wanted to say and do. While we were playing the best words that I could hear for the day was, "Gramma, I love you SO much!" Those words mean the world to me!

Yesterday they were SO excited because I told them there was going to be no work for me today....just time to play with them. If you could have seen their faces. We worked on art projects, we played on the floor with a castle, we played outside, we read many books, we worked on beginning and ending letter sounds, and played number games, went out to lunch and we just played ALL day! I have to say that it sure was a great day. Here is some of their art work.

I hope you all can find the time to really be in the moment with your kids. Yes, you need time for yourself too but find the time to shut the phone off, forget about Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or whatever brings you away from being in the moment with your kids. They will appreciate the time you gave them. Sometimes it is the kids that have to remind us what really is important.
